We are having a small (and hopefully quick) working bee on Saturday the 4th February at 3pm.
We're wanting to tidy up the container, clear all the track and surrounding area of weeds, and hopefully make some small changes to the track to allow the Short Course Jam track to work without having to jump over piping. We may even get some painting done on the inside of the container if anyone knows a painter.
We haven't got a long list of things to be done, but it would still be great to have a few more hands there to help out other than the usual few helpers.
If you have a whipper snipper, please bring it along!
For those attending or thinking about attending Round 1 of the Short Course Jam on February 19th, we will be using the same track layout as the video below. A couple of corners have changed slightly since this video, and we have a few more videos of the Short Course events from 2011 on our YouTube page, so make sure to check them out.
With a great SC turnout last year, it was tremendous fun running a track like this, as long as you can remember which way to turn each lap!
As most will know a 12 month membership at badRC gives you a full 12 months of discounted racing from the date that you join. In February a large selection of current memberships will expire.
If your name appears below then your 12 month membership runs out before or on the next race-meet. In order to continue discounted racing (including February's Race-Meet) then you will need to pay for a new 12 month Club Membership. This can be completed at the next race-meet on the 19th February or download/save the membership form from the Memberships page of this website, and follow the directions listed.
Club Memberships are only $30 for an Adult, $15 for a Junior (under 16), and $50 for a Family Membership (1 adult + immediate family). Membership reduces your monthly race-meet fees from $15 down to $10, a saving of at least $55 over the year. Club Membership also enters you in to the Club Members Points Title as listed on this website also.
Todays race-meet was on the smallish side unfortunately, but in true badRC style we made sure the day was still fun. We decided that we would waive race nominations today due to the low turnout, and it's funny how once the pressure if money is removed, the pressure of racing lessens and everyone seems to have a good time.
Rok & Sean were having some great battles in the 2wd Short Course Truck class when diff trouble on Sean's SC10 handed Rok the day's win and spoiling the 'old boys' 40th Birthday. Considering both drivers are in desperate need of new tyres, it made the racing very eventful and entertaining.
In the 1/8th Buggy class there were a number of great races (it was a real shame that we weren't able to film some of these races as they were very competitive) with Popkorn Man taking out top honours in the A-Final passing Matty Chatz on the second last corner & the Gus-Man in 3rd.
It was great to see some guys travel up from Geelong, and it was also great to have a brand new racer (and entourage) at the track today for the first time.
As there were only a couple of 'Vintage' RC cars there today, we thought it wise to postpone the Vintage Class to another race-meet as some racers were not able to get their old cars ready in time. We'll let you know when that will be.
Again due to the low turn-out we have decided to start counting the 2012 Club Members Points from February's race-meet (Sunday 19th) which is the first round of the Short Course Championship.
We've enjoyed a great break, and we're now eager to get in to making some track changes for 2012, so keep checking back here for updates.
Most badRC regulars know that Karl Piepkorn is pretty handy when it comes to painting RC bodies, but when we saw Karl's latest creation at Badlands today we just had share his skills with everyone, as you can see the detail is pretty impressive.
If you're ever after a new paint scheme, come and see Karl at one of this years race-meets to set something up!
